Texas Humane Legislation Network Legislative Proposals

October 29, 2012

I’m not an animal rights kind of guy, but I can appreciate the policies that these people are working for. If a city is going to have a kill-shelter (an oxymoron to be sure), then the animals that they kill should be killed humanely.

My argument against this is that it calls for training that the city pays for and imposes even more laws and restrictions on shelters. If it’s so important, then they should provide the funds, or matching funds for the program.

I hope they are able to make some headway on this project and I hope they’ll be able to get shelters to voluntarily submit to their recommendations. I’d not support it otherwise. Maybe they could do something to publicly reward those that do adhere to their recommendations.
