This is why I loath and detest Republicans

January 11, 2013

“Saying he wasn’t certain of victory and didn’t want to put other members at risk by forcing a vote, Simpson withdrew from the race. “Absent certainty at winning this contest, at the request of my colleagues, I withdraw from this contest,” he said in a speech to the full House.”

“Absent certainty at winning…”  what a loser.  Hey Mr. Simpson, thank you for providing cover for all of the losers who would have voted for Strauss.  Thanks for caving at the first sign of a fight.  It’s this kind of thinking that’s gotten this country where it is.

If you want to make an omelet, you’ve got to break some eggs.  Force those people to vote for Strauss and then remind voters of it every chance you get.  Retaliation?  What?  If you’re up there to play nice, you’re always going to lose.  Your job is to be the line in the sand.  It’s to force votes for ideology.  It’s to paint the “big government” people with a broad brush so that no one will be able to forget that they sold Conservatism down the river.

I’m sure he thinks he came out looking like a statesman, but from my point of view, he’s a traitor.  Better to not even to have raised his head than to have stood up and then sold out for so little.  No doubt that Republican’s will get nothing significant accomplished this legislative session and this will be a big part of the reason why not.
