TxDOT halts directional signs for gun shows

January 15, 2013

“taxpayer-funded directions are not.”

This is an interesting question.  Is this government support of gun shows?  I think there could be a good argument for it being a service to the public at large by facilitating traffic flow.  I wonder if I would be so supportive if it were advertising a “Planned Parenthood” event.  Perhaps there should be a policy that if there is some level of traffic impact expected, that there will be sufficient value to the general public that signage will be provided.  Under that threshold, none.

As this is, it sounds like it’s only being done because it’s an industry that the “elite” want to be able to punish.  Since it’s Houston, it’s something that I really don’t care about, but I wonder how long it will be before the same asinine logic makes its way into our part of the Metroplex.
