The vast majority of these are very short term and relatively insignificant. In most cases, those who are furloughed get backpay, so they end up getting the best of both worlds: they don’t have to work, but they still get paid for it and the only loser is the US Taxpayer who doesn’t get to enjoy the services that should have been rendered by those people at home who are going to get paid for doing nothing.

I tend to get the impression that the Democrats are going to get to own this one. Even though Dems may think that Harry Reid is doing this for the right reasons, it makes it hard to believe that he’s doing the business of the people when he’s obviously thwarting the will of the people.

In the words of BHO, “…elections have consequences…”. The American people didn’t trust BHO or his party with the power of the purse. If they had, we wouldn’t be having these discussions. More relevantly, perhaps had this bill not been “deemed” to have been passed, we wouldn’t be having these issues either.
